Guest Posting Guidelines

In an effort to streamline the process of guest posting, I’ve assembled this page to answer questions and provide guidelines for those interested in guest posting.

So the answer to the first question is: Yes, I do accept guest posts.  I view guest posting as an integral part of brand building, and welcome the addition of new, well-written content to my blog from users and other sources.  The only thing I ask for in return for publishing a guest post, is your willingness to publish a guest post of my own on your blog.

If you’ve viewed my posting schedule, its obvious I publish, on average, about 1 post each week.  In an effort to balance guest posts against my personal writing, I limit publication of guest posts to no more than 1-2 per month, depending upon my own schedule.

What kind of content do you accept?

Anything that is useful for my readers is good content for a guest post here.  It can be related to health, parenting, fitness, weight loss, or it can also be derived from your own personal experiences.  While there is no minimum length for your post, I prefer that guest posts be at least 400 words.

Due to the growing interest in publications from commercial sites, it has become necessary that I draw a distinction between guest posts, which are guest articles accepted from bloggers, and sponsored posts, which are articles written by, or for, obvious commercial, business, or affiliate sites.  If you’re interested in publishing a sponsored post that would be both relevant and meaningful to my readers, feel free to contact me through the contact form.

General Guidelines For Guest Posts

  • Your post must be original and must have never been published before on the Internet
  • You agree to not publish the post anywhere else (i.e., in your own blog or as a guest post in other blogs)
  • You can include up to a total of two links.  One link in the byline, which will be displayed at the bottom of the post, and one link in the body of the article

Formatting Guidelines

  • Please format your guest post as an HTML document, so that I can copy and paste it into the WordPress HTML editor.
  • Use H2 or H4 tags for sub-headings.
  • Make sure to include the author byline at the bottom, with the link to your website already formatted (do not spam keywords there, though).
  • Do not include email links in your submission.
  • I reserve the right to make minor edits, including spelling or context for SEO purposes.
  • I will edit your post to include one link to an article on my site for SEO purposes.

Submission Guidelines

If you have a post that meets the guidelines above, you can send it to me on the email livefitblog at gmail dot com.  Please include the post in the body of the email itself, or as a .doc attachment.

Usually within a few days, I will reply stating if we will accept the guest post or not. If I reject your post, you are obviously free to use it in your own blog or to propose it as a guest post to some other website.  If accepted, I will provide the scheduled publish date.  Common courtesy for guest posters it to promote the post via social media channels when it goes live.
