Progress Report – 2009 Fitness Goals
With the end of April upon us, we’re now one-third of the way through the year. I’m always espousing the importance of goal-setting, but those goals aren’t worth the paper they’re on if they get buried under a stack of envelopes. Every so often, they need to be dusted off and reviewed to see how little progress you’ve made toward achieving them. See my positive attitude?
This is where I stand:
- Perform 12 unassisted pull ups (overhand grip, shoulder width)
- Yesterday I did five. I’ve managed as many as six. Nothing to write home about, but its progress from the four I could squeeze out back in December.
- Complete one sprint distance triathlon – event to be determined.
- Haven’t yet chosen an event. Need to get my butt in gear.
- Run a 5K in under 25 minutes.
- Ditto.
- Complete 100 pushups
- I had been stuck at 55 consecutive pushups. Last week I started the hundred pushups challenge, and I just finished week 3.
- 17% Body Fat
- I went yesterday and had this checked. I weighed in at 189 pounds, and using the handheld gizmo, they showed me at 17.1%. I know that isn’t as accurate as calipers, but I’m happy with the result.
I feel pretty good about my progress thus far. The local pool opens at the end of May and I’m buying a pool pass for the family. They have lap swim available in the evenings, so I’ll take advantage on my way home from work. I’ve got a plan in place for the pushups, but I need to focus more on the pullups. Let me know if you have any tips for those.
How are you faring on your fitness and weight loss goals thus far this year? Have you taken a day to review them this year, or are they gathering dust in a drawer? Pull them out and take a look.
