Daily Links: Weekend Edition
I thought I’d take an opportunity to start putting together some of my favorite fitness and weight loss posts from around the web. So, here we go…
Mac, over at Get Fit Slowly wrote an excellent article, in which he reviews his 2008 goals and formalizes his 2009 fitness goals. I really enjoyed this post, because it shows how even though we may not achieve our goals on the first round, keeping focused on them will get us there eventually. He cites measurable goals for 2009, and has a plan for how he will achieve them.
A post about Kahlil Gibran, over at John Is Fit, talks about “intestinal cleansing” and the death of his treadmill. There’s humor to be had here, because my wife is a yoga instructor (not a yogi), and when she was learning about yoga, she talked about the whole “intestinal cleansing” thing. I didn’t understand it then, and still don’t. Fortunately, I don’t think she ever decided to try it.
This week, I discovered Andrew Is Getting Fit. Here, he charts his progress as he went from being a non-runner to an accomplished marathoner. I can relate to the non-runner part, and although I’ve become a runner, I’m not to the marathon level. That being said, his story is inspiring, and along the way, he shares beautiful photographs from his running courses. If we all had such beautiful places to run, we’d all be inspired to run marathons.
I’ve also discovered MizFit’s site, where she posted an excellent discussion on the subject of our perception of food. It’s interesting how, when I talk with friends about eating, they can become obsessed with how their diet choices are affected by perception. For instance, just suggest that your friends try eating old fashioned oatmeal, and see how they respond.
Well, that’s it for the week. I hope everyone has had a good week in pursuit of their fitness goals, and can find some inspiration in the reading here, and elsewhere.
