This is going to be my last post on the subject of New Years resolutions. I was at the gym today, and saw a segment on Good Morning America called “New Year, New You.” I’m not a believer in a person waking up one day and somehow being someone completely different, so I had to go dig around on their site to see what this is all about.
What I discovered is that, for the most part, they’re plugging tips and ideas for ways people can “improve” their lives over 2008. Suggestions ranged from taking control of your online identity to finding ways to get healthy. It got me thinking about what types of new years resolutions people are making, so I decided to ask.
New Year, Not A New You
We’ve all rung in the New Year now, and we’re (hopefully) thinking about our resolutions. I wondered if a survey of New Years resolutions would be of interest. Quite often, we resolve to make massive changes, but with no plan to make it happen. At least, those are the kinds of resolutions I used to make. It took me about 8 years of failing to meet my resolutions before I finally found something that would stick for me.
As I said, this exercise got me wondering what kind of New Years resolutions folks are making this time around. So, I thought I’d ask the readers. To that end, I’ve created a poll that I’ll run in the sidebar for a few weeks. Once its complete, I’ll share the results. My wife and I put our heads together and tried to get some of the most common resolutions we’ve made over the years. I’m sure we’ve missed some though, so if you’ve got one I should add, drop a line in the comments section, or send me an email using the contact page, and I’ll include it in the results.
