The Legendary Sugar Rush
Christmas Eve is upon us, along with the treats. Visions of sugar plums, and all that. This is one time of year when we all load up on sugar, and thoughts of weight loss tend to go out the window. It’s O.K., for a few days, to put your weight loss goals on hold, so long as it only lasts a few days. The funny thing about this, is that the kids get it. They’ll load up on the sugar stuff with reckless abandon on Christmas morning. And that’s O.K., but what about the “sugar rush?”
Sugar Rush – True Or False?
Anyone have a picture of their kids loading up on sugar and running around like mad? The oft-touted “sugar rush” is actually a thing of legend. Unless your child is diabetic, this is probably false. Researchers have proven that when parents believe their kids have been given sugar-containing products, they perceive their kids act “wild,” even if in reality, they received a placebo. Busted.
So, your kids are going to load up on sugar tomorrow. Expect it. And when they start running around, acting like heathens, you can take comfort in the knowledge that it has absolutely nothing to do with the sugar. It’s just genetics. So, enjoy your Christmas.
