Week In Review — November 30, 2008
Well, the beginning of the eating season has come upon us. I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving Day and enjoyed time spent with family and friends. I know many people who got out for Black Friday shopping, and the madness that entails. I took the boys out and spent a little time amongst the madness. To be honest though, things didn’t seem too bad by the time we hit the stores. My primary goal was to get a handful of things and spend a little time with family, so I wasn’t rushed at all. Unfortunately the day ended badly for me. Got a terrible headache and ended up sick. I feel better now, but I have no idea what caused it.
The day ended better for me than for many. Sadly, there were at least three deaths across the country on what should have been a fun shopping bonanza. In New York, a Walmart employee was trampled to death when opening the store. Across the country in a California Toys R Us, two men shot one another after their female companions started fighting. Both men died in the shootings. (Does anyone else find it curious that this happened in the state in the country with the strongest handgun restrictions?) Again, a sad testament about our society and a statement as to how we are missing the point of Christmas, I think.
As for my workout regimen, this hasn’t been too bad. I managed three trips to the gym and two 4-mile runs. Not bad considering what a hectic week this has been. I’m still hanging out at 192 lbs, and am starting to believe it might be a by-product of my regular strength training. That’s a change from the 186 lbs that I stayed at when I was primarily engaging in an aerobic-based fitness routine.
How did you make out during turkey week?
